Meet the amazing, Tina Tona, a visual and multimedium artist whose vibrant, mixed-media collages and photo illustrations reflect her deep connection to the richness of Black expression, queerness, and radical joy. Drawing influence from the nostalgia of 2000s music videos and her experiences growing up in diverse global environments, Tina creates layered compositions using materials like vintage Black magazines, felt, and beads.
Her work reimagines pop culture and heritage, honoring Black heroes in sports, music, and film while celebrating the playful, yet meaningful, interactions between her materials.
“Everything I do is an attempt at world building but not at such a big scale,” Tina Tona explains. “I’m trying to create a world with all these pieces, using memories, emotions, and fragments of my life to build something new.” -Interview with Jyni Ong for WePresent by WeTransfer.
With every piece, Tina invites viewers into a world of tactile exploration, beauty, and celebration. Follow Tina on Instagram and support her incredible work!
