The work of painter Amy Hill, is truly blowing my mind. She has created a series of paintings that touch on the fifteenth century subject all while transforming them to your present day neighbor.
“Painting is both a material and historical process. Fifteenth century Flemish painters are my current inspiration. The beauty of the figures and the carefully constructed worlds are shadowed by an unease created by the awkwardness of the poses and the incorrect anatomies. My stylistic kinship with these artists compels me to keep their works alive by updating and refreshing them. They allow me to conduct an ongoing dialogue with them.”
