Danish singer, Agnes Obel, in my book is the next big thing! The multi-talented songwriter and musician currently lives in Berlin and possesses the rare gift of a songbird’s voice, bringing to mind Ane Brun and Joanna Newsom. Agnes focusing on piano and harp driven pieces that might best be described as eclectic folk lullabies. When I first listened to her track “Riverside”, I was immediately drawn to the opening piano melody, and suddenly her angelic voice conquered my full attention. She is currently touring overseas, gracing audiences with her beautifully crafted double platinum album and evocative EP.
